Happy Earth Day!

There's been quite a bit that's been added to Small House Building in the last few months.

First off, Donna in Cincinnati has come down on the price of her cute little house: Small House for Sale in Cincinnati, OH

I found a great couple pictures of truss types. If you're interested in making the most out of that attic space you may want to consider room-in-attic type trusses: Truss Types

Confused on the difference between OSB (oriented strand board) and plywood? Included on this page is a handy drawing illustrating how to use a rope to more easily carry a 4x8 sheet of plywood: Structural Wall Sheathing

Some tips on picking good lumber at the building supply store: How to Pick Good Lumber

A word on building inspectors: What to Expect From a Building Inspector

Do you have to install a septic system of some kind in your rural home building project?
Conventional Septic Systems
Mound Septic Systems
Alternative Septic Systems

A friend of mine sent me some beautiful pictures of different stair designs: Unique Stair Designs. If you see a picture in there that you know the source of please let me know and I'll definitely put in a credit/source. I particularly like the one out of a whole tree.

If there are other resources you'd like me to add to these pages just let me know. There's a lot of good information here for the beginning home builder.

Happy Spring!
